How I spend my free time in Dublin - Joshua

Hi and welcome back to my blog!

It’s been two weeks since I arrived in Dublin and I can honestly say that I love it here. Aside from my work placement, which could not be more perfect, I have also fallen in love with the city and the Irish culture.

Unfortunately, during the week I don’t have much time to look at any sights or do much else - I leave the house at 7am and don’t get back until after 6pm. However, I still have plenty of time on the weekends and have managed to squeeze in some really fun things.

For starters, Lea and I visited the “must-sees” in Dublin such as St. Patrick’s Cathedral and Marsh’s Library. We have also strolled through the city and spent some relaxing time reading a book in St. Stephen’s Green.

Last weekend, we went to Galway and the Cliff’s of Moher, which were truly astonishing.

The weekends are also a great time to go out and delve into the most famous part of Irish culture - the pubs. No matter where you are in Dublin, you will find a pub (or ten) on every corner. A lot of them even have live music, so you can just enjoy a pint of cold cider and listen for a while.

What I also really love about Dublin is the close proximity to the sea. We have for example visited a lovely costal town called Bray and on Tuesday after work I went to Sandycove for a swim at the beautiful historic bathing place “Forty Foot”.

All in all, I think Dublin is an amazing city and there is so much to do here. Stay tuned for my next blog!

Sounds fantastic. But what is this word “cider”? As far as I know it’s not in the Irish English language. Is it black with a white head?
